Abstract

Sayyed Muhammad Jafri, Nazir Ahmad Sheikh and Sayyed Zamir Jafri are great names in urdu humorous poetry. They earned this unique identity in Urdu literature. Owing to their intellectual genius and thematic variety, these great humorous writers have left an asset behind them which is still alive. Their poetry is full of keen observation and imagery. It is replete with a satire on political imbalance and social inequalities, cheerfulness, elegance, exuisiteness and humour are dominant in their satire. When there is some injustice in society, they satirize it. Their whip dominates their topics of literature, society, politics and so-called religiousness. They feel pained at the injustice, corruption, deprivations, govt, politics, religion and culture. They express this suffocation humorously. At the same time, their views and thoughts represent the thoughts of a common man and teach him a message of “Keep smiling with courage and determination”, despite all these adverse circumstances.
