Abstract

Colonialism refers to a form of political domination that exployed various methods to control populations. It is not an inherent or rational structure but a deliberately created condition that devides society into two groups. The colonizers and the colonized. The colonizer possesses extensive power both tangible and symbolic which is used to oppress the colonized people with its inherently dual native colonialism sets up systems such as the courts, police and educational institutions to further this exploitation. In India, colonial, period is often traced to 1857. Under such rule, colonized people generally develop two contrasting attitudes, one of resentment and detachment and the other of attraction and integration. This was also the are in India, these opposing perspectives were evident among Indians during the time of British rule.
