Abstract

Akbar is not against the modern knowledges, but he is not in favour of the blind following of the west, and he is regretted on the loss of the political and educational freedom of the Muslims. We can see satire as a reform in Akbar poetry as a proved fact and he has used his satire as a tool to make radical changes in Sir Syed’s movement. Akbar, being a true satirist, can never fully support any reformist movement. His humorous pattern of thinking always tries to rectify the direction of every character and movement. To doubt and to warn are a part of the satirist’s nature. Satire is such a whip that awakens the sleeping souls of the masses. Like his other characters, Akbar also satirized the character of Sir Syed. Akbar strongly attacked in the early days with contradictions and satire on Sir Syed but with the passage of time and experiences, he seemed to be much impressed by the struggle and reforming passion of Sir Syed. This article discusses the philosophical and psychological differences between Sir Syed and Akbar along with their mutual harmony and similarities.
