Abstract

The Bahawalpur literary school holds the distinction of producing the first Siraiki novel. “Nazo” and “Pahaj” by Zafar Lashari are regarded as pioneering works and masterpieces in the early history of Siraiki fiction. Among the prominent novelists associated with this school are Hafeez Khan, Rahi Gabol, Musarrat Kalanchvi, Dilshad Kalanchvi, Qasir Fareedi, Saleem Shahzad and others, whose contributions significantly broadened the scope of Siraiki prose fiction. Their novels not only depict the richness of Siraiki culture and traditions but also bring to light the social, psychological, economic, and communal issues of the Siraiki region. The history of Siraiki fictional literature would remain incomplete without acknowledging the novels produced within the Bahawalpur literary school. This research paper undertakes a critical analysis of selected representative novels from the Bahawalpur school of Siraiki fiction.
