Abstract

After the arrival of Muslims in India, they had a profound impact on the intellectual and cultural atmosphere there. Although Muslims and Hindus are two separate nations whose history, religion, clothing, lifestyle, customs and moral values are different from each other, however a new civilization was formed by their social interaction, which had all the colours of the local society and Islam as well. This new civilization is called Indo-Islamic civilization and the formation of Urdu language is the most prominent manifestation of this common culture. The elements of Indo-Islamic civilization can be clearly seen in the early examples of Urdu poetry and prose. The tradition started by the Sufis regarding Indo-Islamic cultural elements in Urdu poetry. Even after the establishment of Pakistan, poets continued it and thus this tradition of reflection of Indo-Islamic civilization in Urdu poetry is vibrant with all possibilities. In this article, the analysis has been presented regarding reflection of Indo-Islamic civilization in Urdu poetry after creation of Pakistan.
