Poetry is a form of literary art in which language is used for its aesthetic and evocative qualities in addition to its apparent meaning. Poetry may be written in conjunction with other arts, as in poetic drama, hymns, lyrics or prose poetry. Aristotle defines poetry as an art that imitates; imitation is one instinct of our nature and "the objects of imitation are men in action". He considers comedy as an imitation of characters of a lower type. and tragedy as an imitation of an action that is serious, complete and of a certain magnitude. Poetry is a medium to express our feelings and involvement with our relationships. Poetry is a pure shade of the personality of a poet.
