Abstract
The letters being addressed to Professor Nazir Siddiqui, included in the first volume of 'Insha e latif', is not the sheer conversation between two intimate friends or counter arguments only but the dialogue between two stalwarts of literature also. It encompasses such a valuable evaluation of academic literary, social and intellectual framework of that era, which depicts the prevalent literary and critical trends too. The article under review highlights the historical significance of this correspondence, which is food for thought and opens the vistas for the inquisitive venturers of research in the field of literature.
