Abstract
The tendency of psychological criticism in Urdu criticism has been among the critics of “HALQA ARBAB ZAOQ”. Riaz Ahmad is the second biggest psychological critic after Meera ji. Psychological Criticism is a psychological analysis of the effects of creation on the author, the characters, and the reader. Riaz Ahmad presented theoretical and practical critiques in the light of the psychological theories of Freud, Young and Adler. He made Urdu poetry part of a more practical critique. He described the difference between classical Urdu poetry and modern Urdu poetry in terms of psychological principles. Psychological justification for the use of nickname, styles and themes. This article analysis the psychological scope of Riaz Ahmad’s critique. He tested modern poets on the criterion of psychological criticism, including NM Rashid, Meera ji, Faiz, Sahir, Majeed Amjad, Qayyum Nazar, Yusuf Nazar and others. Riaz Ahmad has given precedence to modern poets over progressive poets. According to Riaz Ahmad, progressive poets are sexist. His criticism is biased. This article covers all aspects of his psychological critique. His critique has been clarified with arguments. This article is an attempt to understand Riaz Ahmad’s critique.
