Abstract

Muhammad Khalid Akhtar, an eminent man of letters of Urdu, has a writing style peculiar to himself. His writings are on wide ranging subjects. Though he has proved his mettle in many a genre of the Urdu literature, but satire and fiction are standout amongst them."2011" his famous novel was published in 1950.George Orwell's legendary "1984" inspired him to write this novel."2011" has the distinction of being the first complete fantasy novel of Urdu literature wherein a model of utopian state has been dealt which bears a close resemblance to what is modern day Pakistan. Novel projects the glimpses of future economy, politics, literature, science, education and journalism. This article offers analysis of fantasy elements in the novel.
