Abstract

Urdu poetry remained infatuated with flowers and cheeks up till nineteenth century. As far as social consciousness is concerned, Nazir Akbar Abadi was the first poet who developed and incorporated it in his poetry; however, unfortunately, he was not considered a poet by his contemporaries for a long time. Then, Ghalib, Hali, and Muhammad Hussain Azad integrated social consciousness in their poetry. In the beginning, we see traces of revolutionary ideas in the poetry of Iqbal. Josh Malih Abadi is the first recognized messenger of revolutionary poetry. Under the influence of Russian revolution, the transformed ideology took the pace of a movement in India and then a number of revolutionary poets took the flag and marched forward This article covers these aspects.
